If you have a significant event to attend the next day, you may want to learn how to make your skin glow overnight. But before you start with the shortcuts, it is important to remember a few crucial principles for perfect and glowing skin. To achieve a glowing complexion, you need to follow a proper sleep schedule, perform a regular cleanse-tone-moisturize (CTM) routine, eat right, exercise, and use the right skin care and beauty products. However, it is unlikely that we will be able to follow all of these practices exactly. So, if you are short on time and want to achieve glowing skin quickly, here are a few tried and tested natural methods to consider in the form of effective face masks.
This is one of my favorite and easiest home remedies to make a scrub that will instantly give you a glowing complexion.
Soak equal amounts of rice and sesame seeds overnight
Grind in the morning to a fine peeling consistency
Apply it to the body and face and leave it on for a minute or two
Wash off with cold water
While the sesame nourishes your skin, helps in skin repair and prevents skin aging, the rice grains gently exfoliate and keep your skin hydrated with their antioxidant properties (1) (2). This is a perfect body and face polish.
Sleeping packs care for your skin while you sleep. This is how you can use this directly available product.
Wash your face with a mild face wash and rinse with cold water
Remove any remaining makeup and pat your skin dry
Take about less than a teaspoon of the sleeping pack and massage your face into your skin in upward motions.
Because sleeping bags are easily absorbed into the skin, they don’t leave you feeling greasy.
When you wake up in the morning, cleanse your face with a mild cleanser and rinse with cold water.
Milk is a storehouse of rich antioxidants and another wonderful natural way to achieve glowing skin.
Apply a very thin layer of low-fat milk to your face
Massage in upward movements until the milk is completely absorbed into the skin
In the morning, wash your face with a mild face wash and pat dry
Milk not only helps get rid of dark spots on face but also nourishes the skin while you sleep (3). However, in some cases, this remedy can cause breakouts. Alternatively, you can mix glycerin and lemon juice with rose water to massage the face.
Cleanse your skin with a mild scrub and pat dry
Remove all makeup residue
For deep moisturizing, apply a pack of honey and fuller’s earth and leave it on for at least 15 minutes
When the pack is dry, wet it with very little water and scrub slowly while massaging your face for at least 2 minutes
Rinse with cold water. Pat dry and apply a thin layer of rejuvenating night cream
When you wake up, cleanse your face with a mild scrub.
Tip: Reuse the honey pack and then exfoliate your skin to get that extra glow.
While your face is glowing, don’t forget your eyes! Constant computer use and lack of sleep can cause dark circles under the eyes. You can use these simple options for healthy eyes:
Use a soothing eye contour gel to moisturize the skin around your eyes while you sleep
Cover your eyes with an eye mask while sleeping
When you wake up, wash your eyes with cold water
In winter, use pure Ayurvedic facial oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, chamomile oil and lavender oil that promote skin moisture and nourish your skin (5). For dry skin, you can leave it on overnight and wash it off with a gentle scrub in the morning for a radiant complexion. For normal skin, leave it on for about an hour and wash off with a gentle peeling. Apply some face mist before bed. When you wake up, use a mild cleanser without parabens and SLS and wash off with cold water. Spray on facial mist to reveal visibly clear skin.
